She started from humble beginnings in Calgary Alberta where she was constantly drawing, painting and creating. Whether she was at home, in school or on the train, Melissa kept on improving her artistic skills. Through the internet, she found a love for digital art and illustration and added it to her hobbies. She started delving into photoshop at a very young age, and was later introduced to Graphic Design as a possible profession at Prairie College’s Digital Media Program. The transition was very natural, and soon she felt her future career was starting to take shape.

Through Prairie College, Melissa made the move from Alberta to British Columbia where she interned at a humanitarian based non-profit as their in-house Graphic Design Specialist. From there she worked with many non-profits, in-house marketing teams, and an industrial print shop freelancing occasionally on the side. Wanting to add more strategic value to her work, Melissa went back to school for the Marketing Communications Management program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Now with over 7 years of experience, she continues to freelance with branding and illustration projects while looking for the next big step in her career.

When she’s not building a new brand, she’s discovering new food to try and cook, finding the best dog park to bring her senior shi tzu to, or hiking and camping in the mountains to unplug, rest and decompress.
